UPDATED: 11:54 am EDT October 13, 2008

Metro Police are searching for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run over the weekend.

Maria Ndimuzigo was hit by a car at the intersection of Southside Drive and Kingston Avenue on Saturday night.

The African refugee came to the U.S. from Burundi in May. Her two teenage daughters are left without any family, except members of the Louisville Burundi community.

"We are unity. We are together. So we are here," said Ezechiel Ntezimana, Burundi community vice president. "Everybody is coming here to see the children."

If you have any information about this hit-and-run, you're asked to call the Metro Police anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
