LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Eighteen people were arrested after Metro police operated a sobriety checkpoint overnight.Officers set up the checkpoint targeting drunken drivers and other traffic violations near Lower Hunters and Upper Hunters Trace.Over a period of six hours police made eight driving under the influence arrests. Ten people were also arrested on misdemeanor charges and 51 citations were handed out.
Police said that three of the people stopped had bench warrants.Volunteers from Mothers Against Drunk Driving were on hand to offer the officers support.
