EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. -- Kentucky State Police said a state Rep. from Bullitt County has been killed in a wreck near Bowling Green.

Police said Larry Belcher, 61, was driving north on Interstate 65 at mile marker 44 near the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, when his pickup truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer that had come to a stop in a construction zone. Police said Belcher died on the scene.

Belcher, a Democrat, represented House District 49 in Bullitt County. He served from 1999 to 2002 and was re-elected in 2007. Belcher had been running for re-election this November.
