'Music Saves Lives' Blood Drives Scheduled

There's a push to attract young people to become regular blood donors.

A new law allows 16-year-olds to donate blood in Kentucky.

The American Red Cross is hosting several special blood drives to generate interest.

On Tuesday, teens from the Governor's Scholars group gave blood.

There are also several mini-concerts and blood drives scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

July 16:
  • U of L Red Barn, Swain Student Culture Center, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (live band/recorded music)
  • The Ken Ellis Center, 1425 Pennsylvania Ave., Jeffersonville, Ind. 3-8 p.m. (Live bands)
  • Club Oasis, 1506 Lakeshore Ct., St. Matthews, Ky., 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Disc jockey)
  • Beechland Baptist Church, 4613 Greenwood Rd., Louisville, 1-6 p.m. (Disc jockey)
July 18:
  • Boy's and Girl's Club, 1448 Conner St., Noblesville, Ind. Noon-6 p.m.
  • Clifton Community Center, 2117 Payne St., Louisville, 2:30-8:30 p.m. (Disc jockey)
