University administrators have signed a deal with a Columbus, Ohio, developer.

The Edwards Companies will own, manage and maintain the development, called the Province.

It will include 522 one- to four-bedroom apartments in several three-story buildings.

"We're taking this 43-acre abandoned industrial site and it'll be transformed into student residences that are probably not at all like the places we lived when we were in college," said U of L Provost Shirley Willinganz. "These will include a central clubhouse, a swimming pool, sand volleyball, spas and a sundeck."
