Presidential Hopeful Discusses Iraq, Health Care

U.S. Rep. and presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo of Colorado told an audience of New Hampshire voters that health care choices belong to the people, and that the U.S. needs to change its strategy in Iraq.

Tancredo answered questions in "Conversation with the Candidate," an ongoing series produced by WMUR-TV in New Hampshire in which the candidates for president discuss issues on the minds of voters.

You can watch the entire program as it aired on WMUR-TV along with a special, online-only bonus half-hour by clicking on the links to the right. Hear Tancredo give his thoughts on the war in Iraq, illegal immigration and health care in front of a studio audience.

When it comes to Iraq, Tancredo said a withdrawal would put troops in further danger. He said a the U.S. needs to disengage, the military, meaning that the role of troops should change. He believes forces should be moved to the outskirts of Baghdad and Iraq to give the country it's own chance to develop.

"We need to let Iraq begin running Iraq," said Tancredo.
